Want higher pay? Don’t change jobs

Want higher pay? Don’t change jobs

For years, America’s job market has rewarded the footloose. The surest path to a better wage, the standard recommendation goes, is to string collectively a sequence of one- or two-year stints, every paying a bit higher than the final. Profession gurus on TikTok set movies of their very own wage development to jaunty pop beats, cloaking on-line bragging as steerage for the uninitiated. On Reddit, posters debate simply how little time in a job a job-hopper can get away with earlier than future employers may begin to fret about disloyalty. (A yr or so is the consensus, although a courageous few argue for six months.)
