Centre ramps up vigilance on essential goods’ prices ahead of festive season, high-level meeting likely next week

Because the festive season approaches, the central authorities is intensifying efforts to maintain important items inexpensive amid fluctuating inflation tendencies. A surge in costs of meals oil, flour, sugar, and different key merchandise has prompted the federal government to carefully monitor the scenario. Meals inflation eases additional

Sector-wise inflation overview

– Housing: Yr-on-year housing inflation stood at 2.76 per cent in January 2025, up from 2.71 per cent in December 2024.- Schooling: Schooling inflation declined to three.83 per cent from 3.95 per cent.- Well being: Well being inflation dropped to three.97 per cent from 4.05 per cent.- Transport & Communication: Inflation rose barely to 2.76 per cent from 2.64 per cent.- Gasoline & Gentle: Inflation remained adverse at -1.38 per cent in comparison with -1.33 per cent the earlier month.

Inflation highs and lows
