Google Reaches Preliminary Settlement in Class Action

Google reportedly reached a preliminary settlement in a 14-year-old class motion lawsuit introduced by advertisers by agreeing to pay $100 million.

The lawsuit started in March 2011 and alleged that Google failed to supply the advertisers with promised reductions and charged them for clicks on adverts outdoors the geographic areas they focused, Reuters reported Friday (March 28).

Though Google agreed to the settlement, the corporate denied wrongdoing, in line with the report.

“This case was about advert product options we modified over a decade in the past, and we’re happy it’s resolved,” mentioned Google spokesman Jose Castaneda, per the report.

The settlement requires a decide’s approval, the report mentioned.

The report attributed the size of the authorized battle to the quantity of proof gathered by the 2 sides and the mediation classes through which they participated.
