Amazon mentioned Wednesday (April 30) that it’s going to make investments over $4 billion to develop its rural supply community and supply quicker supply to thousands and thousands of consumers in much less densely populated areas.

The funding will develop Amazon’s rural supply community to over 200 supply stations, create over 100,000 new jobs and allow the retailer’s community to ship over a billion packages annually to prospects in additional than 13,000 ZIP codes, Udit Madan, senior vp, Amazon Worldwide Operations, mentioned in a Wednesday weblog submit.

“At a time when many logistics suppliers are backing away from serving rural prospects due to price to serve, we’re stepping up our funding to make their lives simpler and higher,” Madan mentioned within the submit.

Amazon opened its first rural supply station in 2020, started scaling its small-town supply community in 2023 and has accelerated its common supply speeds by 50%, in line with the submit.

“By the top of 2026, we’ll have tripled the scale of our rural supply community, to offer Prime members from Milton, Florida, to North Pole, Alaska, (and 1000’s of small cities and rural communities in between) the power to buy from over 300 million gadgets from the comfort of their properties and obtain their packages even quicker — reducing common supply instances in half,” Madan mentioned within the submit.
