Planning to retire in 2045 as a 30 years old with VOO, does this math make sense? : personalfinance

Hello, I’m working some numbers on my retirement plan and wished to get a actuality examine.

Right here’s my contribution schedule:
• Oct 2025 – Dec 2028: $2,666.67/month
• Jan 2029 – Dec 2030: $3,466.67/month
• Might 2031 – Jun 2045: $5,333.33/month
(All dividends/income reinvested.)

I assumed a long-term 10% annual return (S&P 500 historic common, through VOO).

Tough math gave me:
• After first part (finish of 2028): ~$121k
• After second part (finish of 2030): ~$238k
• After ultimate part (Jun 2045): $2.83M

($1.74M in right now’s {dollars}, adjusted for two.5% inflation)

Utilizing the three.5% rule:
• That portfolio might generate about $99k/yr in withdrawals (nominal),
• Or about $61k/yr in right now’s {dollars} (inflation-adjusted).

So by retirement in 2045, this plan would go away me with about $2.8M (~$1.7M actual).

Does this math look about proper?
And for individuals who retired with an identical nest egg, was ~$60k/yr (right now’s {dollars}) sufficient for a cushty retirement?
